The Earth seen from Apollo 17
(c) NASA.

The climate system is a complex system consisting of the atmosphere, oceans, biosphere, water cycle, and solid Earth. There are also significant external drivers which includes the sun, changes in the Earth's orbit, and interactions with other solid bodies.

This course examines these various natural forcings and how they give rise to the observed natural variability and its impacts on the weather in our region.

This course also examines how the climate has changed over geological or deep time, and the very significant impacts that humans have had in recent centuries on the climate.
