    AWO Class A certification is required for those make a visual assessment of the weather for the aviation industry in Australia and its territories for dissemination in the METAR/SPECI codeform. Class A certification training and assessment is provide to Bureau of Meteorology Technical Officers and Forecasters, Australian Antarctic Division Expeditioners, and Royal Australian Navy Observers and Forecasters.

    Initial AWO Class A certification is comprised of both theory courses and a practical course. Each course is a prerequisite for the next.

    Following completion of all course components, an email confirmation of AWO certification will be sent to the participant's registered email address. This can take up to 10 working days.
